Austria has an idea for an... original new law. Their government wants people to put their personal data into every online comment

Austrian government has seemingly come to the conclusion – largely a correct one, too, but still – that most of the Internet hate comes from the fact that people online are anonymous. Thus, in order to get rid of the hate, they need to get rid of the anonymity. Therefore, Austrian gov’ is working to bring in a law that will make it so that everyone who wants to write a comment online has to put their personal data – name, surname and address – into the comment.

Brilliant. Nothing like taking away our privacy for the sake of goodfeels, no? The warrant will be put to life on websites that either have at least 100 thousand members, generate 500 thousand euro per year or receive government funding of at least 50 grands per year.

Well, Austrians, I wish you good luck. This idea seems ridiculous and hilarious now, but if you allow your government to pass it, this will be a dark day for Internet privacy, or lack thereof.
