This summer, Huawei will open its very first physical store outside of China, and it will be placed in Vienna, Austria. This is not overly surprising, as Huawei is providing 5G networking equipment to Austria’s three large carriers (even if one of them, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile Austria, have agreed the U.S. regulators’ request to stop using Huawei gear). Attempt to open a store in the U.S. would be doomed to failure, as their lawmakers push towards unsanctioning Huawei’s services throughout most of the world and consider the company a national security risk.
