According to a report from JPMorgan Chase analysts, it currently costs a bit over 4000 dollars to make one bitcoin. This would be fine, if not for the fact that, after being made, such bitcoin is only worth 3800 dollars – not the best deal out there. At the moment it is only worth mining bitcoins in countries that have special deals with electric power distributors, e.g. China. It also turns out that the bitcoin’s exchange rate is falling; this happens, though, and should probably not be a cause of distraught.
