Community Actions, new FB function, allows us to create online petitions. Such petition is a special post with a title, description and tags. Tags serve to, well, tag agency or organization that we want our petition to reach. The support button allows us to share the petition with other people – like a chain letter, only hopefully not as annoying. Discussions can be had under the petitions, but only after you decide to back them up.

Community Actions is currently going through betatests in the US. Rumour is that the tests are going splendidly and there are no serious issues. Does FB need such a function at all, though? On the one hand, there are already places where you can create online petitions; on the other hand, social portal such as FB might be just the right place for petition creation. We shall see.
