This one is not very funny, folks. Uma Oram, an 18-years old girl from Kheriakani, India, has died. According to Metro, she was talking to her relative on a phone while the device was plugged into the wall. Suddenly, the phone exploded, causing severe injuries to Oram’s hand, leg and chest. She was taken to hospital where she died. The cause of death was declared to be terminal injuries.
The phone in question was either HMD Nokia 3310 or Nokia 5233 – sources claim it to be the former, but the picture looks more like the latter. HMD quickly responded to the situation by stating that, of course, they did not make that phone, that they create only safe and high quality products, yadda yadda. Police is still investigating Uma Oram’s death, and her body is sent for a post-mortem examination.
Death by phone is pretty rare but it does happen. Usually it is either the faulty or unofficial battery or charger’s fault. Sometimes it is people’s fault, for example when someone sits on their phone and causes the battery to swell and blow up. One way or another, smartphones are electronic devices with lots of delicate and high-powered parts that are relatively prone to misfunction. Always look for any signs of your phone heating up.
