McAffe, company known mostly for its antivirus software, warns about a new virus making rounds on the Google Play Store. The virus’s name is LeakerLocker and it is another of the lately ”popular” ransomware. If you are unlucky enough to get infected, LeakerLocker will block your phone and give you an ultimatum – either you pay a hefty ransom or the virus will send your browser history and other personal data to everyone on your contact list. Brr… Damn, LeakerLocker! Just reading this made me immediately go and clear my own browser.
As I mentioned above, LeakerLocker roosted itself among the Google Play Store apps. So far two infected apps have been reported: Booster&Cleaner Pro and Wallpapers Blur HD. More are probably infected, so please, be careful when downloading an app from Play Store. The least you can do is to check out reviews given by users to apps. If an application you want has a significant number of ”Don’t touch this, it has a virus!” opinions, it may be smart to hold on downloading it.
