An emergency Internet source, or Facebook works on a helicopter Internet adapter

Facebook works on many things. One of them seems to be a helicopter, that can quickly bring wireless Internet connection to where it is most needed. Tether-tenna, for that is the project’s name, is to be used when a crisis occurs and being connected to the web is a difference between life and death (like when my connection died down when I was tanking that dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV). According to its creators, helicopter is supposed to fly in, connect to the earthbound cable, as well as, if possible, a source of energy, and transmit wireless Internet connection. It is unknown whether Facebook will produce Tether-tenna itself or if a contractor company will do it. It is not even known if the helicopter will be produced at all, as there is reportedly still a lot of work to be done around it, particulary when it comes to the vehicle’s field longevity – Tether-tenna can operate for one day, while its creators want it to be able to stay in the field for, quote, months.
