Natural Cycles, new fertility app is ”as effective as a pill”

Mirror.co.uk has written an article that boasts the effectiveness of the newest contraception in form of Natural Cycles, a smartphone app. Much of what is written there seems like advertisement hogwash, so I will try to present you with simplified, more coherent version of this news. Long story short, Natural Cycles is a smartphone app that allows women to follow their fertility cycle, effectively informing them when do they have the highest/lowest chance to conceive a child. The app has reportedly scored a 0.5 effectivity rate, meaning that only five out of thousand women using this app have experienced an accidental pregnancy – a high score when compared to pill, which scores 0.3. I am a male, and not well-versed in the matters of fertility, so I will withhold from making an oppinion, BUT, if you ask me, the news sounds too much like an advertisement to be taken completely seriously. If anyone here actually knows whether or not this thing works, let me know; I will tell my girlfriend about it.
