This Sunday, a Canadian man was hospitalized with 2nd and 3rd degree burns after his Samsung Galaxy S7 exploded in his hands. Amarjit Mann, 34, was reportedly driving his car when he felt a “warmness” in his pocket. He took the phone out and it exploded in his hands. Mann was able to throw the burning phone out of the window, and had to drive himself to his friend’s home, from where he was taken to the hospital. Ouch… Mr. Mann has his both hands bandaged now, and, according to a doctor, it will take eight to nine days for them to heal. Victim of the device plans to sue Samsung for injuries received as well as for lost wages (Mr. Mann works as a mechanic).
Yes, exploding cellphones are a hot topic now (ha, ha, haa…) and I, as well as other journalists, will keep on informing you about those occurences. Still, I do hope that you understand that cellphones are complicated electronic devices and that such rare defects do happen. It is simply because of the Galaxy Note 7 that this kind of story gained particular attention. Also, do not worry – or, perhaps, worry more – for it is not only Samsung phones that happen to go out in flames. Lately, a few occurences of iPhones blowing up have been reported as well.
