As I write it, Huawei is (or is going to) pushing an OTA to Huawei Mate 9 in the US. This update enables Huawei Alexa app, allowing you to give commands to your AI assistant Alexa. It is not all roses, as Mate 9's Alexa will have few limitations:
- Alexa can only be summoned by launching the Huawei Alexa app,
- when asking about the weather, you will have to specify the city you are in, every time,
- you cannot ask Alexa to play movies on a Fire TV device.
These do not seem to be dealbreaking limitations, but Huawei promises to remove at least some of them, quote, ”within the next year”. Nice of them.
