HTC Edge rumored

PocketNow has gotten its hands on images of and information about a new smartphone from HTC that is purportedly going to be the first quad-core smartphone to hit the market. Called the Edge, the phone is said to be powered by a Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA and have a 4.7-inch display.

PocketNow’s sources say the Edge is just over 10mm thick, and the 4.7-inch display sports a 720p HD resolution. An 8 megapixel camera with a 28mm, f/2.2 lens and backlit sensor is on the back of the phone, and there is supposedly 32GB of internal storage. The quad-core processor features a clock speed of 1.5GHz and has 1GB of RAM backing it up. Bluetooth 4.0 and Beats integration round out the package.

HTC will include its suite of software with the Edge, and the Edge is said to be one of the first Sense 4.0 devices. It is not clear if it will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the gate, or if it will be upgraded to that after it is released. Also not clear was whether or not the Edge would support LTE connections, but the source says it will support HSPA+ with 21Mbps capabilities.

An exact release date was not provided, but PocketNow thinks the Edge will hit the market in either Q1 or Q2 of next year.
