The option has been added in the latest patch. What it means is that racers from every platform – Steam, Origin, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live – can now play together in multiplayer. Upcoming EA Access and Origin Access versions of the game will also support crossplay. As mentioned, though, it is just an option: if for some reason you wish to stick playing with people on your platform only, you can do so.
