Indian cellphone plans become more pricey. Up to 42% cost growth

India has long kept its status as a cellphone users’ heaven. It all started in 2016, when Reliance Jio telecom network has been launched. Reliance Jio fought with its competition via drastically lowered prices, and in order to remain in business other networks had no choice but to lower theirs as well. It was great for the customers, but on the flip side it also caused huge money losses for Jio’s competition, Vodafone and Airtel.

Well, those companies want to make some money once more, and it seems that they have come to an understanding – all three have made their prepaid customer’s tariffs up to 42 percent higher. The average prices now range around 6 cents for daily usage and 33.4 dollars for a year’s worth of prepaid.

While these are sad news for Indian customers, the rest of the world can still only shake their heads and let out dreamy sighs for what are, to most of them, very, very small payments.
