Project Equiano is the third one of its kind. The first one, connecting Chile and Los Angeles, is already complete; second one, a cable laid between France and USA, will be completed next year. Equiano, as you can see on the above graphic, will be an underwater cable laid between Portugal and South Africa Republic, with Nigeria in-between the two. The goal of Equino is to allow a broadband internet connection between these countries. Cool, I guess.
