An adventurous Dutch has just carried through a journey around the world in his electric car

If you want proof of the idea that electric cars are more economic than diesel, look no further but at the story of Wiebe Wakker. This wacky Dutch, member of the Plug Me In initiative, has taken it upon himself to travel around the world in his electric Golf. Wakker’s journey has begun on March 15th 2016, and in a little over three years he has traveled through thirty three countries across the globe, starting his journey in Amsterdam and ending it in Australia. During this time, Wakker has spend around 300 dollars on recharging his Golf; it has been calculated that, were he to travel via a traditional diesel Golf, he would have to spend as much as 17300 dollars on gas. And we are talking about a model from three years ago, mind you – more modern electric cars would be even cheaper to maintain.
