A bit over a month ago Apple got found out on its deplorable and dishonest/helpful and caused by concern practices of lowering its old phones’ performance. Naturally, scandal and lawsuits followed, one of the effects of which is that now Apple offers replacement batteries for much cheaper. Cheaper batteries are not all, though; newest iPhone operating system, the upcoming iOS 11.3, will give us a very interesting new function that I wrote about last week. Long story short, it will allow the iPhone owners to decide whether they want Apple to throttle their phone’s performance or if they prefer to use a risky older battery in its full capability.
The above may be the most important of new functions of iOS 11.3, but it is not the only one. iOS 11.3 will also improve the artificial reality ARKit suite, will add four new animoji and ”put greater focus on music videos in Apple Music”, whatever exacly that means.
iOS 11.3 will debut in spring.
