Apple plans on cancelling iPhone X?

Ermahgerd Apple is d00med, lolroflwpned.

Nah, nothing so drastic is going on. Still, few people have probably expected today’s news. AppleInsider has obtained a report from one Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-renowned KGI Securities’ analyst. According to Mr. Kuo’s knowledge – and he is well known for being an accurate source of info on Apple’s doings – Apple plans on cancelling the production of iPhone X line by the end of summer 2018. Reason given are low sales, particulary in China, where many of the potential customers consider iPhone X’s notch as taking up valuable screen space. Oh well. This will mark the first time in over three years when Apple cancels an iPhone model after only one generation, the last case being iPhone 5C in 2014.

Apple’s plans to mend the situation by releasing three new models based on iPhone X during the 2018; a second generation 5.8′ iPhone X, 6.1′ iPhone SE with Face ID and a 6.5′ iPhone X Plus. The last two are specifically designed for Chinese market.

So, is Apple d00med? Eh, it does not look like it. Ming-Chi Kuo anticipates a 5% growth in iPhone sales in the first half of 2018. When compared to a 5% of expected shrink of smartphone business for, on average, every other company, it looks like Apple will do well. Hooray.
