Samsung owns two factories in Slovakia, one manufacturing OLED panels parts and another assembling the screens. Soon though, these factories may be no more, as Samsung is threatening to shut down one of thems and is said to consider closing both. The reason is pretty prosaic, namely lack of workforce – seems like Slavs are not very interested in making us smartphones. Another option for Samsung is hiring foreigners, something that Slovakia government is not very keen on allowing, or so I heard. If closed, these two factories will probably end up being relocated to a more work-friendly environment. Where? No one knows.
