Only 50.000 units of Essential Phone have been sold so far

Blow the sad trombone and play the world’s smallest violin, as Essential Phone is not selling well at all. According to EP’s Essential Camera application’s download figures from Play Store, roughly 50 thousand units of the Andy Rubin’s smartphone have been sold during the phone’s four months long release. Too bad, so sad. There are a few reasons to believe that the actual sales are lower, though; some of these devices could have been resold and signed to new account/s, Essential’s developers have probably used multiple accounts to test their apps out on a single device and more. The actual amount of Essential Phones sold is probably smaller than 50k.

Essential Phone has seen a huge price drop. Starting at $699, the price was lowered to $499 after two months. On occasions it can even be bought for as little as $200. Essential Phone’s extremely low popularity is caused by a variety of reasons that could be summed with a word ”overhype”.
