Samsung has a history of releasing only two large OS updates for each of their phones, afterwards letting them slowly fade to obscurity as they are replaced by newer models. Now, though, it seems that Samsung plans on changing history – though perhaps it is too big a sentence for such a relatively insignificant event. According to two Samsung customer care representatives, Samsung plans on updating its Galaxy S6 smartphone for the third time and to nothing else than Android 8.0 Oreo. Wow.

While a ”bunch of customer care representatives” is by no means an oracle of multinational company’s decisions, they were reported as being, quote, ”very confident” in their statement. So who knows, maybe there is something to what they say? I certainly would not mind Samsung keeping their phones relevant for longer.
