Android O release date rumoured, and what is all the fuss really about

According to a rumour of a hearsay of a tea-leaves reading, Android O(atmeal Cookie, probably) will be released on early-to-mid August 2017. First phones to get the update will be Google Pixel, Nexus 5X and 6P and LG V30, with Samsung, HTC, Sony and others following by the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018.

That is cool, but pray tell, why should we even be interested? What is the big deal about Android O? Nothing if you ask me, but I suppose most smartphone-oriented people will be very much interested in, among other things:

– improvements to the system,
– tweaked batteries,
– more interactive status bar,
– improved notifications and iconography,
– new name.
