Sprint wants to ”dramatically boost” LTE Plus capacity and coverage in the United States

Reportedly, Sprint works on new technology called Massive MIMO (short for multiple input, multiple output) tech. MIMO’s goal is to improve LTE Plus’ coverage as well as mobile Internet speed.

How does this MIMO work, exacly? Long story short, it allows more than a single data signal to be sent and received between nodes (e.g. website’s servers and your smartphone) over the same radio channel. In addition, MIMO also allows for beamforming, which enhances data signals.

New tech is currently being tested in Suwon, South Korea, and the results are said to be promising.
