Samsung Wemogee, a communication app for those with language disorders

I like it when technology is developed to help people, and I like it even more when money-centered, soulless corporations like Samsung do the helping. Today I am glad that I can tell you about the latest invention of Samsung Electronics Italia – Samsung Wemogee. Wemogee is an emoticon-based chat app, designed to ease the burden of communication for people with language disorders like aphasia.

How does Wemogee work? Developed in co-operation with a team of speech therapists, Wemogee has over 140 every day phrases (well done, I am hungry, I am sleepy, it is funny etc.) built into its library. It allows its user to create these sentences by choosing emoticons corresponding to them (thumbs up, fork, bed, laughter etc.). This emoji-message is then sent to the receiver, who sees it in text form and can reply with a number of preset messages.

Wemogee is reported to be clear and easy to use, which is an important factor. For now it has Eglish and Italian language supports, but more will certainly be added. The app will be available in Google Store, for free, starting April 28. You can watch the app’s advertisement here.

Thanks, Samsung. Nice of you to do something like that.
