Samsung will not exchange a broken S7 Edge until its owner signs an NDA

Samsung can’t help but have more and more problems, can it. Long story short – on February, a man from Singapore has bought himself a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone. Six days after the purchase, the device overheated, becoming inoperable. When the client went to a Samsung store to get his phone exchanged – and, mind you, S7 Edge’s warranty covers such cases – he received what was essentially an ultimatum; Samsung would have him either sign a non-disclosure agreement, which would deny him the right to publicly complain about the company and its products, or his phone would not be exchanged. What is more, company had the nerve to call the exchange ”a gesture of goodwill”. Annoyed, customer refused to sign the document and wrote an e-mail to Samsung, which responded by saying that it will look into the matter and, naturally, never wrote back again. Picture above is a screenshot of the man’s post on Samsung’s Facebook page, written five days ago.

Damn, Samsung… so far I considered you more or less-relatively-kind of okay, you know, for a multibillion company. After seeing this, though, I am changing my mind. How many people have signed this scummy agreement before this one guy considered the principle of honesty more valuable than a new phone? Bad move, Samsung, really bad move. Although, on the other hand, one has to think why did it become a popular topic today, a day before the S8 release, and not last week, when the Facebook post was written? Hmm.
