Samsung and Toyota today announced a new partnership with the goal of integrating smartphones into the in-vehicle infotainment systems of Toyota’s cars and trucks. The system will use MirrorLink to make the connection. The cars will use a user interface created by Toyota that is safer to operate when driving a vehicle than the user interface of the smartphone. The system will let drivers access music, location services, hands-free calling, voice interaction, and text-to-speech features of the smartphone through the dashboard. The two companies expect this service to reach commercialization in the second quarter of the year.
